In the years that we've been doing marriage ministry, we've been asked many times when we will have some type of training and certification process for couples who want to be more equipped for marriage ministry.
The Marriage Coaching Academy takes what we've learned from years of marriage ministry and Biblical counseling to give couples the best tools possible for their own ministry settings.
The Marriage Coaching Academy is capped at 20 couples per cohort to ensure each group remains small enough to receive personalized attention and the opportunity to build community with other couples in the group.
Each couple who registers will receive:
*A one-on-one Zoom coaching call with Dave and Ashley Willis before the live training event.
*A self-paced curriculum of reading and activities to equip you for effective marriage coaching.
*A 3-Day, in-person training event hosted by Dave and Ashley Willis in Augusta, GA with your cohort of 20 couples.
*Some fun marriage enrichment activities and surprises for you and your spouse to enjoy during our training event.
*A catered breakfast and lunch for all three days of the event.
*4 quarterly group zoom calls for the year following the in-person training.
*A Marriage Coaching Academy Certification presented at the end of the training event.

Any couple who has a heart for marriage ministry and wants to be better equipped to serve couples through personalized coaching, pastoral counseling, or mentoring.

We may offer individual training in the future; but for now, our model is training couples who want to work as a team to help other couples. The registration fee is per couple, not per individual.

Our previous "Breakthrough" events included some of the same elements, but those events didn't have a training or certification component, they didn't offer ongoing group training calls, and they didn't include any form of certification. They were primarily marriage enrichment events for the couples in attendance. This event will also have enrichment elements, but will intentionally focus on training and equipping couples to do marriage ministry.

Our first live training event will be March 12-14, 2026 in Augusta, GA. The training will tentatively take place in the Conference Center at Stevens Creek Church (Dave and Ashley's home church) with some fun field trips planned in other locations around town.

The one-on-one zoom coaching call with Dave and Ashley will be scheduled after you've registered and paid. The group zoom calls will be scheduled after the live event takes place.

Our certification process will equip couples to offer one-on-one coaching and guided mentorship to other couples. These coaching sessions can be done in a church setting, online setting, or even as a business opportunity by opening up your own marriage coaching practice.

All of Dave and Ashley Willis's resources are based on Biblical principles and Christian values, but are not affiliated with one denomination. While this program will incorporate some resources from trusted secular scholars like Dr. John Gottman, the heart of this program is to remain true to God's vision for marriage as outlined in the Bible. We believe every couple has a 100% chance of success if they do marriage God's way.

Augusta is a world-class destination and globally known as the annual home of the Masters Golf Tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club. This annual tournament brings in celebrities and golf fans from around the world each April. When it's not Masters Week, Augusta is a relatively quiet town known for its big city offerings with small town charm. The weather is hot and humid in the summer, and mild throughout the rest of the year. It's a family-friendly and faith-filled environment with thriving churches, diverse cultures, and Southern hospitality.

The cost for the total program including the live event is $2750 per couple. We believe this investment into your own marriage and your marriage ministry will pay dividends for years to come. No refunds will be issued.

Each event will close once the group meets the maximum size of 20 registered couples. Prerequisite work is required prior to the in-person training, so each couple needs to give themselves adequate time to complete the work.
